What commands should a hunting retriever know?

I’m pretty sure (actually I’m 100% sure) that ‘Santa’ is bringing us a Golden Retriever this year! I’ve been wondering what commands she will need to learn. Our family likes to dove hunt, so she’ll need to be capable of retrieving doves (and we’ll need to train her the proper commands to do so). I want a good working dog, but she does not have to be good enough for field trials.

You start training as soon as you get the dog. First are the basic commands "here" "floor" "heel" a pup has a limited attention span so working the pup into a hunting dog will take at least 11 months to a life time. As said before get a good book on the subject and a video or two. There is way too much info for a simple answer. Here is a link to get you started

THIS WOULD BE BEST ,,READ A BOOK ON SAID OR GET A VIEDO AND START THERE OK EACH K-9 IS A DIFFERANT AS DAY AND NITE OK ,,THE BASIC ART OF TRAING IS RATHER EASY HOWEVER LABS ARE COOL DOGS DEMENOR,WELL FREE SPIRTED YES GOOD LUCK BTW THERE A WATER DOG PER SAY OK
I’d look around your community for someone who hunts and uses dogs if I were you, they’ll know what to do and pass that info onto you, you can even get professional trainers into this, but the hunter will know more.
the commands that I’ve seen and used are:
retrieve
come immediately
drop
stay(this is a serious one)
stop
you should start as early as possible, since puppies learn fast and are more obedient then older dogs that may feel independent, but take it step by step, I would really get your dog to like water(not hard with this breed), since you never know what could happen, a bird falling into a pond is a nasty thing unless a dog can retrieve it, also, you might start hunting duck or other waterfowl one day and need a retriever, nice to have them trained for many forms of game.
