I am looking into getting a new puppy to train to go hunting with me to go get the ducks I kill and wondered which I should get, a chocolate lab or a golden retriever? Which is more loyal and easily trained?
I’m pretty sure (actually I’m 100% sure) that ‘Santa’ is bringing us a Golden Retriever this year! I’ve been wondering what commands she will need to learn. Our family likes to dove hunt, so she’ll need to be capable of retrieving doves (and we’ll need to train her the proper commands to do so). I want a good working dog, but she does not have to be good enough for field trials.
In short-
1. What commands should a hunting retriever know?
2. How old should you start training your dog?
I’ve owned Golden Retrievers and relatives have had Labs.I know that everything depends on there personallity and that they are both great loving companions.
But which one is a better hunting[retrieving] dog?
So mainly which one is better physically?
Ex:
Which is stronger?
Which is faster?
Which is a better swimmer?
And does the Golden’s coat give it an advantage in the cold?
After answering those questions decide which one is physically better
I really need to know this so please answer with good answers

does anyone know where i can get a good loyal hunting retreiver for a low price? also am i going after the right dog? tell me what you think…thanks!
i mean not to catch them i have a nice gun to kill them i mean to bring them back to me, my friend was sayin they werent very good for retreiveing even though they are called retreivers, and will they be able to find the squirrel easily once it falls outta the tree?
My golden retriever has no hunting instincts at all. Although I never trained him and never hunted with him I can still assume that because whenever something dies or around something that died he freaks out even on TV. Have you ever heard of this from another person and is this very unnatural just wondering?
if i bred my golden retriever, named buddy to a female short-haired St.bernard would the puppy look more like the mom or dad. please post up a picture if you can and i only want photos and info on how if i do breed my dog with a saint how to get the saint face color and size, but the goldens agility , softmouth and love of water.
no answers like , please dont breed your dog, thats really annoying. i know that shelter dogs dye but i will give the pups to members of my family or to people who have experience with large dogs. so no please dont breed your dog. HE has champion show and hunting lines for petes sake!!!
i decided to breed my dog with another golden and thats all
